Communication layer error

Description:
The controller is visible on the list in RogerVDM but the connection cannot be established.

Communication layer error

Solution:

Check if the controller responds to PING from the Windows command line.

If not, check the settings of the network card (mask and IP) as the computer subnet address must be the same as the controller subnet address.

If yes, then there is probably an IP conflict on the network. The MC16 and another device on the network have the same IP. This can be verified by turning the MC16 off or disconnecting it from the network. If there is still the answer to the PING command, we can be sure that there is an IP address conflict. Connect the MC16 controller directly to the computer and change its IP address to another (free) one.

Note: In the case of controllers with firmware 1.3 or older, you have to first manually switch the controller over to the service mode by shorting the CLK and DTA terminals and restarting the power supply on the controller. After 10 seconds (when all LEDs are flashing), disconnect CLK and DTA. The controller will light up LED 2, which means it is in service mode.

The IP address should be entered manually in RogerVDM. It is the IP address defined in the IP.INI file located on the microSD card on the controller (192.168.0.213 by default). The file can be edited and values can be changed. The network settings for normal operation and service mode may be different.
